Further to the BC Provincial Health Officer’s announcement of the four-phase Restart Plan, we are thrilled to announce that we are proceeding with our plan to host a summer-long festival in July and August.
Events will run every Sunday at 2 p.m. from July 4 to August 8. There will be afternoon and evening events at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Friday to Sunday, August 13 to 15.
Our plans are based on being allowed to gather in groups of up to 50 in the Festival Pavilion. This means we will have fewer than 500 tickets to sell for the entire series. All events will be recorded by a professional videographer and will be posted online as a virtual Festival for the last two weeks of August. There will be a modest charge for the virtual events. If restrictions on gathering relax, we will increase capacity accordingly.
We look forward to welcoming the following writers to shíshálh swiya this summer: Amber Dawn, Billy-Ray Belcourt, Michael Christie, Jillian Christmas, Claire Finlayson, Michelle Good, Aislinn Hunter, Daniel Heath Justice, Seth Klein, Sarah Leavitt, Lucia Misch, Bill Richardson, Iona Whishaw and Howard White. The closing night concert on Sunday, August 15 will feature Sunshine Coast musicians, singers, and songwriters Keely Halward (producer of this event), Clay Hepburn, Sarah Noni, Jomegasonic, and Daniel Wesley.
Stay tuned to this space for the schedule of events, author bios, and information about ticket sales. Please sign up for our digital newsletter to ensure you receive updates as they are confirmed.
