We’re looking for new board members

Planning for the Sunshine Coast Festival of the Arts (SCFWA) 42nd season is underway, and we seek passionate and energetic volunteers for our Board of Directors to help support the SCFWA’s program and vision. We celebrate the wonder, joy, and power of stories to entertain, educate, inspire, connect and transform our lives. Each year’s summer festival line-up reflects the diversity of identities, experiences and voices in Canadian writing. We aim to create a welcoming space that is accessible and inclusive.

The SCFWA also partners with School District 46-Sunshine Coast to program an annual literacy week and to bring Canadian authors to coastal classrooms from K-12, giving young people the tools and inspiration to write and tell their own stories. An adjudicated anthology of student writing is published every year.

Board members support the overall vision and strategic goals of the not-for-profit society. Board members participate in an annual retreat and monthly meetings to oversee operational plans, policies, budgets and promotions, as well as strategies for advocacy and community engagement. A full-time Artistic and Executive Director, with assistance from a core production team and over a hundred volunteers, produces and manages the festival and community activities.

We are strongly committed to equality, inclusion and diversity and especially welcome applications from members of underrepresented communities.

Interested candidates should submit a letter and CV to the Board Chair, Maggie Schell (email ma***********@ya***.ca) by March 10, 2024.
