Steven Heighton is the author of 14 books encompassing a variety of literary genres. His third collection of short stories, The Dead Are More Visible, was a finalist for the Trillium Prize. His three novels include Afterlands, which was published in six countries, optioned for film and was the recipient of numerous literary honours. His debut novel, The Shadow Boxer, was a Canadian bestseller, a Publishers’ Weekly Book of the Year and was published in five countries. His latest novel is The Nightingale Won’t Let You Sleep, a beautifully paced literary thriller.
Steven Heighton is perhaps best known for his six books of poetry including his 2016 Governor General’s Award-winning collection, The Waking Comes Late. The poems, short stories and essays of this versatile and prolific writer have appeared in some two dozen literary publications and anthologies, and have gathered up a long list of nominations and awards (somewhere north of 20 at last count).
